Republican incumbent Sen. Ted Cruz faced off against Democratic challenger Rep. Beto O’Rourke on Tuesday night in the second debate for the Texas Senate race. With less than three weeks to go until election night, Cruz is leading in recent pollsby single digits, and O’Rourke’s fundraising has reached record highs. The seat is rated Likely Republican by Inside Elections’ Nathan L. Gonzales, but if O’Rourke is able to flip it, he would be the first Democratic senator from Texas in 25 years.
