Senate Appropriations Chairman Thad Cochran announced Monday he would be retiring from Congress at the end of the current appropriations cycle due to health concerns. The 80-year-old senator was a strong advocate for federal money to his home-state of Mississippi, and having spent four decades in Senate he is the 10th longest-serving senator in history.
