The Centuries-Old Ohio Clock is a Senate Icon, But It’s Not From Ohio

The truth of how it got its name is lost to history — the Ohio Clock was built by a clocksmith in Philadelphia, and it probably wasn’t meant to celebrate the state’s ratification to the union. But from its key position just outside the Senate chamber, the tall mahogany timepiece has been a stoic witness to some of the Senate’s biggest moments, as well as its everyday ones.
