Democratic Rep. Dan Kildee will tell supporters Tuesday he will not run for governor in Michigan next year and instead run for a fourth term in the House.

Kildee made the decision to stay in Congress after Thursday’s vote by House Republicans to repeal and replace the 2010 health care law, a person close to Kildee confirmed to the Detroit Free Press, which said was first reported in the MIRS newsletter.

Kildee’s visibility had risen after his action to address the water crisis   from lead contaminated pipes in his hometown of Flint. 

Kildee also brought Mona Hanna-Attisha, a Flint pediatrician who exposed the contamination and the daughter of Iraqi-American scientists, to be his guest at President Donald Trump’s first joint address to Congress.
