Republican John Faso and Democrat Zephyr Teachout are about even in New York’s 19th Congressional District, a Time Warner Cable News/Siena College poll released Tuesday shows.

The poll, which surveyed 678 likely voters in the district, found 43 percent supporting Faso, a former state Assembly minority leader, and 42 percent behind Teachout, a onetime gubernatorial candidate. Fifteen percent said they were unsure or had no opinion.

The seat opened up when GOP Rep. Chris Gibson opted against seeking re-election.

Teachout recently had former Democratic presidential candidate Sen. Bernie Sanders campaign for her. The Vermont independent endorsed her in April ahead of her June primary.

The poll also showed Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump beating Democratic rival Hillary Clinton by 5 points in the district, 43 percent to 38 percent. President Barack Obama won the district by 6 points over Mitt Romney in 2012.

The poll was conducted from Sept. 20 to Sept. 22 and had a margin of error of 3.8 percentage points.
