Former Ku Klux Klan leader David Duke faces sky-high disapproval ratings as he runs for the Republican nomination for Senate in Louisiana, according to a new poll.  

More than 80 percent of 614 respondents had an unfavorable view of Duke, regardless of race, gender or party affiliation, a University of New Orleans poll  shows.  

The poll was conducted July 27 and 28 via robocall and had a margin of error of 3.95 percentage points.  

Duke announced  his candidacy for Senate last month, citing the rise of Donald Trump.

He faces U.S. Reps. Charles Boustany and John Fleming, state Treasurer John Kennedy, former Rep. Joseph Cao, state Public Service Commissioner Foster Campbell and several others in the November 8 jungle primary for the seat being vacated by Republican Sen. David Vitter.
