Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell said it is very likely that he will run for re-election in 2020.  

“I’m at the top of my game,” the Kentucky Republican told  the Lexington CBS affiliate WKYT in an interview that aired Sunday. “I think I’ve been effective in serving our people, and there’s a great likelihood I’ll run again.”  

In his most recent race in 2014, McConnell defeated current Kentucky Secretary of State Alison Lundergan Grimes. First elected in 1984, he is also the longest-serving senator from the Bluegrass State.
