Democrat Protests Gun Control Inaction with Silent Speech

Rep. Elizabeth Esty stood silently on the House floor at the end of her remarks Wednesday to protest “the appalling silence and inaction” of Congress on gun control, following the mass shooting in San Bernardino, Calif., on Dec. 2. Esty asked for unanimous consent to bring the Denying Firearms and Explosives to Dangerous Terrorists Act to the floor, but the chairman denied the request on the grounds that unanimous consent requests are not granted during morning hour.
