With money for the Sept. 11 first responders healthcare program set to run out in February, Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid again called for the program’s reauthorization Tuesday, saying the bill “has been done for weeks.”“Quite frankly I was surprised yesterday when I was told by Sen. [Mitch] McConnell that it wasn’t going to be in the highway bill — I was really quite surprised,” Reid said. “Because Sen. [Charles E.] Schumer and [Kirsten] Gillibrand have worked very hard on that, they had gotten sign-offs for virtually everybody.”
