WH: Closing Gitmo via Executive Action ‘On the Table’

The White House sidestepped questions about an op-ed penned by two former administration officials that declared the president has the constitutional authority to move detainees from Guantánamo Bay, Cuba, and shut the facility. “I’m not aware of any ongoing effort to devise a strategy using only the president’s executive authority to accomplish this goal,” said White House Press Secretary Josh Earnest. “But I certainly wouldn’t take that option off the table.”
