Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy said Friday that he was hopeful the House will “start the down payment where we don’t have to worry about raising the debt limit – that we’re actually paying off the debt.” “Why don’t we come together, find a way to raise it, but find a way that we don’t continue to add to it,” McCarthy later said.
