Despite the insistence of Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu, Defense Department Press Secretary Peter Cook said Tuesday there are no plans to create a safe zone at the border of Turkey and Syria. “We haven’t mentioned or discussed a safe zone from our approach,” Cook said. “This is about going after ISIL and the best means possible. And that includes working with Turkey in trying to address issues along the border.”
